Dear Mr Chambers

Your information access request IR1-4707516864

Thank you for your email of 12 December asking how much we have so far
spent on legal costs specific to the Lucy Letby public inquiry. I’ve
considered your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA).

We’ve not incurred any external legal costs on the Inquiry. The work that
has been undertaken for the Inquiry has been performed by our in-house
legal team and we do not as routine record time spent on these tasks,
therefore we are unable to quantify the cost of the work.

Who to contact

I hope you find this information useful. If you have any queries about
this, or need anything further, please contact me on the details below.

Yours sincerely

Dear Mr Chambers,

The GMC given bad-GMC-practice off smoke and mirrors, are not being honest. They have spent both directly and indirectly in this particular case/inquiry.

Regarding direct costs, numerous legal submissions by the GMC show internal ‘GMC legal’ keep meticulous track of hours and costs incurred and now almost always make cost claims after threats. Large public organisations and private companies that are public bodies also make submissions to Inquiries (like mine) as to costs and times, as standard practice; the GMC is no different thus on the balance of probability, it is impossible the GMC in these particular tasks are not keeping a tally.

There are also indirect costs; from GMC legal action hiring external Barristers and staff to take action at GMC MPTS for cases that raise concerns of GMC complicity in supporting White Serial killers including Nurse Letby. Recently discussing bad-GMC-practice of actions against BAME doctors that defy White Managers and Healthcare staff – hence BMA (via LMC reps) advice to any BAME doctor, here a particular doctor, to always apologies (choke) in any Grievance from White staff to avoid GMC Liaison and GMC investigation committee predetermined race-related repercussions (transcripts available and were at the High Court); to GMC Media department and agencies to sanitise public search engines and of any discussions of the actions of the ‘GMC liaison Service.’

The indirect cost is hard to quantify and would exceed an FOIA request but the direct internal costs are easy to quantify but may take time to provide. I would suggest an internal review with request for information provision at their convenience for minimal cost and distress to GMC staff. If not provided after the Inquiry outcome, complain to the ICO then appeal to the GRC, as par your statutory rights and in the Public Interest.
