Dear Ms Preacher,

Freedom of Information Act 2000
Thank you for your request for information received on 21 December 2016
for the following information:

I'm Looking as part of a study programme for myself details of all
children in your area that are looked after children for the years 2015 to
2016 both years included to todays date or the end of the year Why and how
long they have been looked after children and finally why do the children
go out of the area and what areas do you send them too..

Unfortunately we are unable to process your request without further
clarification.  I want to ensure that the information that we give to you
is useful and what you are looking for.

We would be able to give you figures for how many young people had been
looked after by Barnet at some point during 2015, or at some point during
2016. We would also be able to provide the number of young people within
each Category of Need code, which would give you an indication of why the
young person is looked after, but we would not be able to give further
details about the reason for the young person being in care.

With regards to the length of time they have been looked after, we would
be unable to give you details relating to individual young people, but if
you would like to provide some groupings (i.e. 0 to 3 months, 3 to 6
months, 1 to 2 years etc), we may be able to provide this information.

With regards to the final part of your request, young people under the
care of London Borough of Barnet may be living in placements outside of
the Barnet area, but they are still looked after by Barnet. This might be
for a variety of reasons based on the needs of the child.  If a child is
deaccommodated, then we may not have a record of which area they live in.

If we do not receive the clarification requested we will be unable to
process your request.  If we do not hear from you by 13 January, we will
take it that you do not wish to pursue this request and will consider the
request closed.

Please note that when you provide clarification the period for
compliance(20 working days) restarts.  The compliance date for response to
you request will therefore be 20 working days after you provide
clarification.

Yours faithfully

Dear Barnet Borough Council,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Barnet Borough Council's handling of my FOI request 'Looked After Children Stats for 2015 2016'.

Its very sad the only council to refuse this request its probably you may want to avoid giving these figures,
i have tried all over the internet their is only a lump sum figure for each council not the reasons for being in care by age and by town or city.

you never gave me any websites to view so its more than fair we go for a internal review before we go to the information commissioners office please do your job its not on the internet i see from google barnet council you seem to be the most unhelpful council and you hold the record for complaints and have more abused children in your area than the whole of the uk.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/l...

Yours faithfully,

Jo Peacher

Dear Sir/ Madam

I have received the following Freedom of Information review request. I was
sorry to hear your concerns.

Your complaint is not upheld as my findings are that you were provided
with websites to view.  On reviewing the response sent the exemption
applied was correct and referred you information available
on the DFE website at

[1]https://www.gov.uk/government/collection...

I have checked and this is the correct link where the information is
readily accessible to you.  This clearly states 'Statistics on children
under local authority care at national and local authority level'.

To assist you further you should click on the link for ‘Children Looked
after in England including adoption: 2015 to 2016’ and then scroll down
until you find the link for ‘Local Authority tables SFR41/2016’ in MSExcel
or ODS format, and then repeat for each year you would like the
information for.

I hope this sets out what you need to do to view the relevant files but I
am happy to talk you through over the phone if easier.

Your Rights

If you remain dissatisfied with the handling of your request, you have a
right to appeal to the Information Commissioner at:
The Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane,
Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF

Telephone: 0303 123 1113
Website: [2]www.ico.org.uk
There is no charge for making an appeal.
