Location of Inner-City CCTV Cameras
Dear Lincoln City Council,
I am interested in local authority owned and operated CCTV or traffic cameras. For each CCTV camera that is owned and/or operated by Lincoln City Council, I would like the following data
Location/Street Name – Coordinated (Longitude and Latitude) - A direct URL to to camera image – whether it is currently operational
I would like this to be in a format that can be re-used, preferably comma separated variable (csv) format.
Once this request has been completed I would like you to add the resulting dataset to the city's website for public use, and keep it up-to-date in the future.
Thank you in advance.
Yours faithfully,
Nathan Walker

Dear Shearwood, Karan (City of Lincoln Council),
Thank you getting back to me with this information, however, I would like to ask for clarification on the cameras. I originally asked for a URL for each camera, what I meant by this is a link to view a live feed of each camera, similar to what many other councils do, as well as government organisations such as Traffic England.
Here are some examples of what other UK councils do -
Newcastle - http://www.netrafficcams.co.uk/
Norfolk - http://travelnorfolk.norfolk.gov.uk/publ...
Southend - http://apps.southend.gov.uk/trafficmonit...
Is it not possible to replicate the format of displaying image feeds for these Lincoln cameras?
Yours sincerely,
Nathan Walker
Dear Sir
Further to your follow up query in this matter, I confirm that the City
Council do not plan to offer CCTV on a live feed.
This is for two reasons:
1) This isn’t something that we’re currently able to offer
technically – the technology we use doesn’t allow it.
2) The above reason aside, we do not feel it would be an appropriate
use of our CCTV system. In order to comply with the requirements of the
Data Protection Act and the Information Commissioner’s Officer, any
decision to live stream CCTV has to be for sound reasons and must ensure
that no individual could be recognised. The nature of our system, and the
purposes it fulfils, means that it would not be appropriate to live stream
the footage.
I hope this answers the questions.
With regards.
