Location of bins
Dear Sheffield City Council,
Please could you provide me with the locations of public general bins. I would like there location description, coordinates, site name, and if available the frequency of collection.
If possible I would like this data to be Open Data available under the OGL, similar to how you publish the locations of grit bins.

Dear Cj Malone,
Thank you for your request for information relating to location of bins
which we received on 15/03/2022.
Please find Sheffield City Council’s response to your request set out
below:
We apologise for the delay to our response due to a busy period.
Please find attached the first part of our response, which relates to the
location of bins on Highways maintained land provided by our contractor
Amey Hallam Highways Limited. The output from the database in which we
hold this information is limited to this format.
With regard to the frequency of collection, this varies according to the
fill rate of each individual bin. Where practicable each bin is emptied
before it reaches 75% full. This means that the vast majority of the bins,
outside of the City Centre, are visited (and emptied if required) twice a
week.
We are obtaining information from our parks and countryside service and
will contact you again as soon as we have their response.
If you have any queries about this response, please do not hesitate to
contact us.
The information provided in this response is available for re-use under
the terms of the Open Government Licence v3.0. The terms of the OGL can be
found [1]here. When re-using the information, Sheffield City Council
requires you to include the following attribution statement: “Contains
public sector information obtained from Sheffield City Council and
licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0.”
If you are unhappy with the response you have received in relation to your
request, you are entitled to have this reviewed. You can ask for an
internal review by replying to this email. Internal review requests should
be submitted within 40 working days from the date of this response.
If you remain dissatisfied with the outcome of your internal review, you
can contact the Information Commissioner’s Office. Please see

Dear FOI,
Thank you for the provided data. Do you have any data on which ones have been moved or removed? For example "Burngreave Road" "Outside no.76 at bus stop burngreave road" seems to have been removed. Or "Burngreave Road" "O/S No.151 #1 Discount Shop @ Bus Stop" seems to have moved 60m north next to the crossing.
I'm still looking forward to data from the parks and countryside service.
Thank you
Yours sincerely,
Cj Malone

Dear CJ Malone
Thanks for your email of 9 June 2022.
We provided you with the Amey 2020 bin audit in PDF format. This was a
snapshot in time and things do change on the highway network on an ongoing
basis. Amey are currently finalising a Gaist survey (camera led) aiming to
provide a 2022 update of all assets and locations, which will accurately
plot bins.
We provided the second part of our response on 16 June 2022 with a list of
bins in our Parks and Countryside service.
Kind Regards,
Sheffield City Council
