Thank you for your email of 2 February 2022, in which you clarified your
requirements from your original request, FOI2022/00131 to now read as
follows:

Where is all your permanent way equipment based

What I mean is tools and things like the tamper and stone blower and
roadrailers

I have reviewed your latest email but I am afraid I’m still not sure
exactly what recorded information you are seeking when you reference
“tools and things”. To explain in a little more detail, we have delivery
units where some “tools and things” are likely to be stored, but we own
properties and buildings up and down the country, including offices, where
it is possible that “tools and things” could also be held and be in use.
Attempting to locate all tools and equipment we hold in response to your
request would mean conducting searches of all of our records for all
Network Rail buildings, which would be impossible.

I understand from your request wording that you are interested in our
vehicles, such as tampers, blowers and road rail machines. If you’d like
to know something more specific about these vehicles, then this is
probably a more manageable request. Would you be content to limit your
request to the “locations of tampers, stone blowers and road rail
machines”? Please let me know and we can process this as a new request for
you.
