Dear info-requests,

Due to requesting this information nationally we have revised the question asked to gain further clarification and to allow us to ask clear questions that should yield better results than the previous question

Please may I request the following information:

OLDER PEOPLE

1. 1.How many older people need residential care homes within your Local Authority?

2. How many older people need assisted living within your Local Authority?

3. How many older people need supported living within the Local Authority?

4. What percentage of those living in elderly residential care homes/assisted living/supported living do you place within the Local Authority area?

5. What percentage of those living in elderly residential care homes/assisted living/supported living do you place outside the Local Authority area?

6. Would it be right to say that it is the council’s preference to place older people within the borough?

7. Would it be right to say that the existing provisions are adequate for the needs of the older people within the borough?

8. In respect of older people, how many of the placements are within private provisions?

9. In respect of older people, how many of the placements are within the council’s own provisions?

ADULTS WITH DISABILITIES

1. 1.How many adults with learning disabilities need residential care homes within your Local Authority?

2. How many adults with learning disabilities need assisted living within your Local Authority?

3. How many adults with learning disabilities need supported living within the Local Authority?

4. What percentage of those living in adults with learning disabilities residential care homes/assisted living/supported living do you place within the Local Authority area?

7. Would it be right to say that the existing provisions are adequate for the needs of the adult with learning disabilities within the borough?

8. In respect of adults with learning disabilities, how many of the placements are within private provisions?

9. In respect of adults with learning disabilities, how many of the placements are within the council’s own provisions?

What we mean by residential care home, assisted living, or supported living is the following:
Residential Care Home
Assisted Living - 24 hour supported living (small group living together with 24 hour
support)
Supported Living - Individuals living individually but in a block of apartments, where
there is support available within the block either 24 hours a day, or
during the day (but not overnight)

HOMELESS

1. Would it be right to say that it is the council’s preference to place homeless within the borough?

2. Would it be right to say that the existing provisions are adequate for the needs of the homeless within the borough?

3. In respect of the homeless, how many of the placements are within private provisions?

4. In respect of the homeless, how many of the placements are within the council’s own provisions?

We would require the most up to date statistics of homelessness in your area that fits your criteria for those to be temporarily rehoused for example:
having no accommodation at all
having accommodation that is not reasonable to live in, even in the short-term (eg because of violence or health reasons)
Those who are unintentionally homeless.

Yours sincerely,

Everton Wynter

If so, how many providers are currently on this list?
Is the list closed, and if yes for how long?
Do you operate competitive tendering when introducing new organisations in the council’s procurement?
How can a private residential care home provider approach the council when wishing to introduce their service?
Who should be approached within the council to discuss referrals, rates, and commissioning?
Once a service is established how is this service promoted in the council?

Current services in place:

When an adult with learning disabilities is referred do we have a contract for a set period of time?
How much do you charge private care homes per adult with learning disabilities for emergency referrals (maximum and minimum prices) and how much notice is the home given before an adult is placed?
Is there more of a need for more short-term placements or long-term placements for adults with learning disabilities?
What is the process for local authorities when making a referral to a private care home?
