Dear Valuation Office Agency,

Please send me the data that shows how the local reference rent for caravan sites in Somerset is calculated.

if Somerset contains several different sub- regions , provide details for each.

I am interested in site rent at touring parks only.

Although I accept that you cannot send me any data giving personal information, I would like you to provide data such as

- in each area how many sites were sampled
- what is the rent charged at each site
- over what period of time

Dear Mr Cook,

Thank you for your request for information on local reference rent for
site rents in Somerset.

I attach a document (pdf) showing the data available to rent officers
for use in the determination of a local reference rent (LRR). This
document includes the postcode and location of the site, the rent and
the frequency of the charge. Rent officers convert all rents into weekly
figures for comparison purposes and the weekly rent is shown in the
final column. The data included is for a range of sites as rent officers
must include data from more than a single source.

In determining the LRR the rent officer must exclude any rents that are
either exceptionally high or low and then add the highest rent, which is
not exceptionally high, to the lowest rent, which is not exceptionally
low and divide the sum by two to arrive at the LRR.
