Local Offer

The request was successful.

Dear Nottinghamshire County Council,

As part of the Government Green paper (Support and Aspiration) The government has outlined a new approach to special educational needs and disability. As part of this initiative the government requires all local authorities in England to set out a Local Offer.

The purpose of the Local Offer is to enable parents and young people to see more clearly what services are available to them in their area and how to access them.

Please provide answers to the following questions

1. What is your local authority currently offering for online advice and guidance for Local Offer?

2. What is the name of the person who is leading on the Local Offer within your Local Authority?

Yours faithfully,

Ryan Owen

Nottinghamshire County Council

Dear Mr Owen

Ref NCC-012308-13

Thank you for your request for information relating to the Local Offer of
support and services for children and young people with special
educational needs.  I can now let you have the following information in
response to the questions you raised.

1. What is your local authority currently offering for online advice and
guidance for Local Offer?

The requirement to publish a Local Offer of support and services for
children and young people with special educational needs and their parents
is scheduled to take effect from the 1 September 2014, subject to the
enactment of the Children and Families Bill.  As one of the DfE's
Pathfinder authorities, Nottinghamshire will be publishing the first
version of its SEND Local Offer later this month.

Prior to the launch of its Local Offer, Nottinghamshire County Council has
been using an external website (jointly commissioned with Nottingham City
Council)  [1]www.askiris.org.uk , its own website
[2]www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk and a directory produced by the County
Health Partnerships "Finding Your Way", as the primary mechanisms for
communicating about the provision and services available to children and
young people with SEND.   An electronic version of "Finding Your Way" is
also accessible via the Ask IRIS site.

2.  What is the name of the person who is leading on the Local Offer
within your local authority?

The lead for the development of the SEND Local Offer in Nottinghamshire is
Simon Ray, Senior Professional Practitioner: Strategy, Planning &
Commissioning.

I hope this is helpful.  If you are unhappy with the way your request was
dealt with and wish to make a complaint, please write to the Team Manager,
Complaints and Information, County Hall, West Bridgford, Nottingham, NG2
7QP or e-mail [email address] quoting the reference above.
Following this, if you remain dissatisfied, you can apply to the
Information Commissioner, however, the Information Commissioner does not
usually make a decision unless you have exhausted the complaints procedure
provided by the County Council.  The information Commissioner can be
contacted at:
