Local Offer

Cadogan Dilwyn made this Freedom of Information request to West Sussex County Council

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear West Sussex County Council,

As part of the Government Green paper (Support and Aspiration) The government has outlined a new approach to special educational needs and disability. As part of this initiative the government requires all local authorities in England to set out a Local Offer.

The purpose of the Local Offer is to enable parents and young people to see more clearly what services are available to them in their area and how to access them.

Please provide answers to the following questions

1. What is your local authority currently offering for online advice and guidance for Local Offer?

2. What is the name of the person who is leading on the Local Offer within your Local Authority?

Yours faithfully,

Cadogan Dilwyn

LRNG FOI, West Sussex County Council

Dear Mr Dilwyn

Further to your recent Freedom of Information request, please see the
Local Authority response below:

1.            What is your local authority currently offering for online
advice and guidance for Local Offer?

West Sussex has published a Local Offer Coming Soon series of web pages
which outline what the Local Offer is, what parents would like to see in
the Local Offer and papers from 3 consultation meetings with children and
young people. There are also links to other related areas such as the
Family Information Service. West Sussex is part of the SE7 Pathfinder and
the Local Offer Guidance framework is forming the basis of the Local
Offer. Schools and services have been written to requesting answers to the
SE7 questions for individual schools/settings/colleges and the services
available from support services.

2.            What is the name of the person who is leading on the Local
Offer  within your  Local Authority?

Chris Lewis is leading on the Local Offer with support from Heather
McIntosh from the Parent Partnership. In all Local Offer discussions
representatives from the West Sussex Parent Carer’s Forum are also fully
involved under the principles of co-production.

Yours sincerely

Sue Bryan
