The request was successful.

Dear London North Eastern Railway Limited,

I am writing to request specific information regarding the LNER Plus Survey and its breakdown. Specifically, I am interested in understanding the participation and responses in the survey over the last five survey cycles, particularly in relation to different staff categories.

I kindly request the following information:

The total number of staff currently employed at London North Eastern Railway (LNER).

The number of staff who participated in the LNER Plus Survey for each of the last five survey cycles.

A breakdown of survey participation by staff category. This should include information on train staff, train managers, train drivers, and any other relevant staff categories.

This data will assist in comprehending the extent of staff engagement in the survey and provide insights into the perspectives of different staff categories within LNER.

Yours faithfully,

Alistair Pedlow

FOI, London North Eastern Railway Limited

Dear Alistair,
Thank you for your Freedom of Information requests concerning various
surveys and feedback mechanisms within London North Eastern Railway
(LNER). Upon reviewing your requests, we have identified several
similarities:

• All three requests focus on surveys or feedback mechanisms within
LNER.
• Each request seeks data spanning multiple cycles or years.
• All are concerned with understanding staff perspectives or
participation.
• Each request asks for a breakdown of information, whether by staff
category, regions, or depots.
• All state that the data will assist in understanding staff engagement
or perspectives and argue that this is in the public interest.

Given these overlapping themes, we have decided to consolidate our
response into a single comprehensive reply. This will cover:

• The total number of staff currently employed at LNER.
• Participation in the LNER Plus Survey, LNER Pulse Survey, and 'The
Pulse' surveys or similar feedback mechanisms over the last five
cycles.
• A breakdown of survey participation by staff category, regions, and
depots.
• Aggregated scores and anonymised comments related to management
conduct from these surveys.

Please confirm that this summary accurately captures the information you
are seeking. Once we receive your confirmation, we will proceed with
gathering the relevant data for our consolidated response.
I would also ask you once you have confirmed this to withdraw the other
two requests, although if you don't I will simply submit the same response
to all three requests so it isn't the absolute end of the world. For
clarity, I have copied the other two requests into this email.
Kind regards

Dear Abigail,

Thank you for your email and the proposed consolidation of the three Freedom of Information requests concerning the various Pulse surveys and feedback mechanisms within LNER.

I’m am happy with having the responses to these requests consolidated into a single comprehensive reply, provided it thoroughly addresses all points raised in each individual request. Your summary seems to encapsulate the primary areas of interest from the original inquiries. Thus, I anticipate that the consolidated response will contain the following:

• Detailed figures pertaining to the total number of staff at LNER.
• Extensive information about participation breakdown within the LNER Pulse
Survey, over the last five cycles, including, but not limited to, participation rates, broken down by staff category, including management, region, and depot.
• Thorough presentation of aggregated scores and anonymised comments related to management conduct.
Kindly ensure that the compiled response is as detailed and encompassing as possible, paying careful attention to the breakdowns and specific details requested initially.
Please ensure your consolidated response are in a suitable format allowing for computerised analytics

After receiving your consolidated response that fully satisfies the points raised, I will willingly withdraw the two remaining separate requests as per your suggestion.

I appreciate your diligence in addressing these inquiries and look forward to receiving the comprehensive response.

Kind regards,

Alistair Pedlow
