LNAT Statistics

Nicky E. made this Freedom of Information request to London School of Economics

This request has been closed to new correspondence. Contact us if you think it should be reopened.

The request was successful.

Dear London School of Economics,

(1) In the years 2020-2021, was there a cut-off MCQ LNAT
score for applicants (i.e. a minimum LNAT score under which applicants will not be considered)?

(2) If so, what was this cut-off score?

(3) In any event, what was the average LNAT MCQ score for successful
applicants (i.e. applicants to whom an offer was made) in the
above-mentioned application cycle?

(4) Does the university take into account the LNAT essay at all and, if
so, in what way and to what extent?

Yours faithfully,

Nicky E.

Thank you for your email. As you will appreciate, information requests
place additional demands on the School in terms of costs and staff time.
At present we are having to prioritise our finite resources in order to

continue to process individual requests, you may experience some delay in
our response during the current pandemic.

Dear Nicky,

With regards to your recent FoI enquiry, as you have only identified yourself by your first name and an initial please can you supply appropriate proof of your correct identity, such as a scan of your passport of driver's licence.

I am seeking this information as there is a possibility that we may exempt some of the information you have requested. In such cases, it is important that we are able to refer to your real name in order to allow you to request an internal review or ultimately complain to the ICO if you choose to do so, as both the LSE and the ICO do not accept first-name only requests in their tribunals. Please note: This information will not be retained once your identify has been confirmed.

Could I ask you to think about the underlying question that is prompting your data request. If you are attempting to find out what are your chances of getting a place, remember that this cannot be answered by reference to data. Applications are considered on their individual merits, based on a holistic view of your supporting documents in the context of the current cohort. Figures from previous years will not offer any insight on your application. Your best way to find the answer is to apply. However, please let me know if you wish us to proceed with obtaining the information requested.

Best Wishes,

Paul

Dear Nicky

Further to your recent FoI request, the Schools response is provided (in
red) below:

(1) In the years 2020-2021, was there a cut-off MCQ LNAT score for
applicants (i.e. a minimum LNAT score under which applicants will not be
considered)? No

(2) If so, what was this cut-off score? N/A

(3) In any event, what was the average LNAT MCQ score for successful
applicants (i.e. applicants to whom an offer was made) in the
above-mentioned application cycle? 26

(4) Does the university take into account the LNAT essay at all and, if
so, in what way and to what extent?

Applicants to LSE’s LLB programme are exempt from sitting the UGAA.
Instead, the essay section of the LNAT may be assessed.
