LLM with a postgraduate diploma in Law (i.e GDL)
Dear University of Cambridge,
I would like to know, for all years that data is held:
1. The number of applicants for the LLM who had, or were expected to obtain, a postgraduate diploma (i.e. GDL or eqv.) in Law (i.e did not, nor were expecting to achieve, an undergraduate degree in Law)
2. The number of interviews offered for said applicants.
3. The number of offers made for said applicants.
4. The numbers of students on the LLM with only a postgraduate diploma in Law.
I request that, if possible and not detrimental to the success of this request, the information listed be supplied in a spreadsheet.
Please note that an inability on your part to supply information on any of the information, in whole or in part, requests would not retract the request for any other information, in whole or in part, requested.
If this request, in part or in whole, is deemed “vexatious” I request that an explanation of why each part was so deemed be supplied, and that those be parts be treated separately from requests of other information.
Yours faithfully,
Daniel Kandel

Dear University of Cambridge,
Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.
I am writing to request an internal review of University of Cambridge's handling of my FOI request 'LLM with a postgraduate diploma in Law (i.e GDL)'.
Can you clarify with respect to Point 4 - I am interested in the number of students whose only legal qualification is the GDL or GDL +LPC/BPTC and undertook the LLM, (i.e. they will already have a BA or equivalent in another subject). Could you please clarify the data.
A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/l...
Yours faithfully,
Daniel Kandel
Dear Mr Kandel,
We are in the process of clarifying the data and will get back to you shortly.

Dear Mr Kandel,
Further to our below email, we can now clarify, with regard to question 4 of your request, that the "number of [confirmed] students whose only legal qualification is the GDL or GDL +LPC/BPTC and undertook the LLM, (i.e. they will already have a BA or equivalent in another subject)" is as follows:
2008-2009 0
2009-2010 0
2010-2011 0
2011-2012 1
2012-2013 1
2013-2014 0
2014-2015 0
2015-2016 1
2016-2017 1

Dear University of Cambridge,
Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.
Having spoken on the phone with the FOI team, I would like a clarification of the data. The data posted suggested the following:
Year Offers Students
'08 0 0
'09 0 0
'10 2 0
'11 5 1
'12 7 1
'13 14 0
'14 4 0
'15 12 1
'16 11 1
'17 16 n.a.
Suggesting an extraordinarily low proportion of offers being taken up. I was wondering if you could confirm this data is correct, and clarify if this is due to people failing to make their offers, or rejecting them.
A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/l...

Dear Mr Kandel,
The data you have listed in your email of 10 June 2017 is correct but the
numbers are not subsets of the same group of applicants. The column you
have called 'offers' lists offer-holders with a GDL in law. The column you
have called 'students' lists student who took up their offer with a GDL
and no other legal qualifications. We have resupplied all the data we have
provided (including the
numbers of your original questions) and added a new column showing
students with a GDL and with other legal qualifications.

The University does not hold course-specific records of the reasons an
