Dear Birmingham,

I am slightly puzzled by this response. Firstly, I have submitted this request to approximately 20 universities and yours is the only response which says that the information is readily available to the public already (via UCAS).

Secondly, in light of the fact you have claimed the material is already available elsewhere when no other FOI team has responded in this way, I wonder if you misunderstood parts of my request. For example, in response to question 3 you responded by saying the standard offer is AAA. This might have been slightly pertinent to question1 , but question 3 was specifically about enrolment against offers. I.e., the question is how strictly does Birmingham stick to its AAA offer? Other universities' acceptances—even those with higher average entry by UCAS points—significantly deviate from their AAB-AAA offers, sometimes to 2 or 3 grades below. So it does not seem parsimonious that AAA is the default enrolment, as response would seem to imply as it was addressed to question 3 alone.

Thirdly, it is not clear what parts of the request are available via UCAS, i.e. what parts you are claiming you are under no legal obligation to disclose.

Yours sincerely,

Mr Hemingway
