Litter and Flytipping

Christopher Banks made this Freedom of Information request to Great Places Housing Group
This authority is not subject to FOI law, so is not legally obliged to respond (details).
This request has been closed to new correspondence. Contact us if you think it should be reopened.

The request was refused by Great Places Housing Group.

Dear Great Places Housing Group,

I am requesting the litter and Flytipping tonnage that has been collected from your estates and land in the metropolitan borough of Bolton. I request the following break down.

The Flytipping tonnage month by month for the financial year 2015/2016.
The litter collection tonnage month by month for the financial year 2015/2016.
The Flytipping tonnage month by month for the financial year 2016 to the present month.
The litter collection tonnage month by month for the financial year 2016 to the present month.

Understandably there is great concern by your tenants that an increase in fly tipping and litter collection could result in extra payments being forced on them to clear the flytipping/litter. I'm also aware that although not subject to FOI, transparency on this issue would greatly help settle residents concerns.

Yours faithfully,

Christopher Banks

Dear Sharon Brown,

You are correct, there is no obligation under the FOI to release this information. As a member of the public we have grown increasing concerned with the increase in flytipping and littering. One housing body in Bolton has already stated to tenants that if the increase does not reduce they may begin charging estates for the removal of this waste.

We also don't believe it is fair to Great Places Housing Group or tenants that an increase in flytipping caused by the slim bins, should be passed on. Our last video on Bin The Slim Bin reached 22,000 views and unofficially we have been informed that housing groups have seen an increase.

Are you able to help on this issue?

Yours sincerely,

Christopher Banks
