Listed Buildings in Wales
Dear Cadw: Welsh Historic Monuments,
Please could you provide me with a complete list, in electronic format, of all Listed Buildings in Wales.
Ideally, the list should contain the building name, the location of the building (in either latitude/longitude or OS Grid Reference pairs), a postal address (if known) and the listing grade (eg, I, II*, II) and the listing date.
Any electronic format would be suitable, but ideally I would prefer it in csv or Excel format. For reference, a spreadsheet similar to that which you provided in response to a similar FOI request for Scheduled Ancient Monuments in http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/sc... would be ideal.
Yours faithfully,
Mark Goodge
Dear Mark Goodge
Thank you for your Freedom of Information request. The information that you have requested is publically available and can be supplied as an Excel spreadsheet (I have attached a document showing the fields recorded on the LB spreadsheet).
I would be grateful if you would confirm whether this solution if agreeable to you and whether you wish to pursue a Freedom of Information Request. When I have received this information, I can arrange for the data to be sent to you.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely
Vincent Devine
Dear Vincent,
Thank you, that looks to be exactly what I'm after.
Given that the information is publicly available, is there anywhere on the web where I can download a copy? If not, is there any process for obtaining updates to it in future?
Yours sincerely,
Mark Goodge
Dear Mark
There is no download facility, however, the information can by viewed on the Historic Wales Portal, which is hosted by the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales. I will have to think about the supply of updated information. I will arrange for the data to be sent to you next week.
Regards
Vince Devine
Dear Mark Goodge
As discussed, please find an Excel spreadsheet recording the Listed Buildings in Wales. The data has been derived from our GIS data. The dataset was originally produced by another section of the Welsh Assembly Government and although there is a confidence rating given, the dataset has not be quality assured by Cadw staff. I have also included the metadata information regarding the dataset.
There is no automated mechanism to update the dataset. In order to obtain updates, I suggest that you contact Nigel Davies on a two monthly basis and he will supply the updates to you. In your e-mail to Nigel, please supply the date that information was last supplied to you.
I hope that the above will prove a satisfactory solution.
Regards
Vince Devine
