List of Streets

The request was successful.

Robert Whittaker

Dear Norfolk County Council,

I understand that under the Highways Act the council is required to maintain a "List of Streets Maintainable at the Public Expense". I would like to request a copy of this document for County. I would prefer to receive an electronic copy if possible (e.g. a PDF file, a spreadsheet, or a database extract). If you happen to hold an unofficial electronic copy/database in addition to the official copy, the unofficial copy would be fine if that is easier to send.

Secondly, I would like to request permission to re-use the information in the document in order to help correctly classify roads and tracks on a map I'm helping prepare. (I'm particularly interested in the status and reference numbers for routes shown as "Other Route with Public Access" on OS maps.) To this end, I would like to request permission to re-use the information under the Open Government Licence v2 at http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/doc/o... . If this is acceptable, please let me know if you require a custom attribution statement.

Yours faithfully,

Robert Whittaker

It's encouraging to see the Council is prepared to release this information for reuse under the Open Government Licence.

However it is rather in the nature of the OGL that users should not need to confirm to the data publisher their agreement. Users merely need to comply with the terms of the licence itself. That was one of the main innovations introduced when the OGL superseded the PSI Click-Use Licence in 2010.

Dear Ms Pickering,

Yes, I'm happy to confirm that I'll only use the information in the "List of Streets" under the terms of the Open Government Licence v2.

If this is acceptable to you, when you supply the information, could you please confirm explicitly that you are indeed giving me permission to use the information under that licence.

Yours sincerely,

Robert Whittaker
