FOI, Royal Mail Group Limited

Dear Ms Carter

I am writing in relation to your request dated 16 September 2013. In your
request you ask for the following information:

1) A list of all offices Royal Mail uses to operate.

2) An indication on the above list of properties owned by Royal Mail.

3) An indication if any of the above list is due for closure/sale.

Following review of your request it is necessary to ask that you provide
clarification in regards to the information you wish to receive before we
are able to progress with your request. In point one of your request you
ask for: A list of all offices Royal Mail uses to operate. It is not clear
from your request which offices your request refers to, as you do not
clarify in what capacity Royal Mail uses the offices to operate.
Therefore, before we are able to progress with the three points of your
request it would be useful if you could confirm which offices your request
refers to, for example does your request specifically relate to Delivery
Offices.

Please note that ICO guidance advises that under section 1(3) of the Act a
public authority is entitled to request clarification from the applicant
if further information is reasonably required to identify and locate
information requested. The 20 working day time limit would not start until
the authority has received sufficient information to be able to deal with
the request. Therefore once clarification has been received the date for a
response to be issued by will be amended from that which you have
previously been advised:

“where a public authority –

(a) reasonably requires further information in order to identify and
locate the information requested, and

(b) has informed the applicant of that requirement”

the authority is not required to comply with the request until that
further information is provided.

Whilst the applicant may have made an FOI request under the terms of the
Act, by describing the information he/she seeks, the 20 working day time
limit would not start until the authority had sufficient information to
enable it to deal with that request."

Yours sincerely
