List of empty homes
Dear Rhondda Cynon Taff Council,
I am writing under the freedom of information act 2000 concerning the number of empty properties across Rhondda Cynon Taf together with the postal addresses.
I am writing to ask you to supply details of:
1) The number of addresses
2) address (including street number and postcode) of homes that:
a) have been empty for over 6 months
b) have been empty for under 6 months
I would request this information is delivered electronically in the form of an excel spreadsheet or Google Sheet - as a list of the addresses and owners of all the empty properties.
If you cannot provide all lines of the address, the ward area and postcode and type of property will suffice.
If you are unable to provide this information please advise me as to how to refine my request to make the information easier to find.
If you are only able to partially disclose the information please do so - and if some of the information is already readily available please direct me as to where to find it.
Yours faithfully,
Josh Hoban

Dear Mr Hoban,
We refer to your Freedom of Information Request in respect of the number
of empty properties across Rhondda Cynon Taf, the Authority’s response is
as follows:
I am writing to ask you to supply details of:
1. The number of addresses
2. address (including street number and postcode) of homes that:
Information provided as at 30th June 2018:
a) have been empty for over 6 months
ANSWER: 2,452*
b) have been empty for under 6 months
ANSWER: 1,497**
*these are properties that have been empty and unfurnished for 6 months or
more and are now considered ‘long term empty’ and do not include any other
empty properties that are exempt for another reason
** these are properties that are currently empty and unfurnished and not
yet considered ‘long term empty’ and do not include any other empty
properties that are exempt for another reason
In relation to part 2 of your request - 2) address (including street
number and postcode) of the empty properties. Unfortunately we are unable
to provide the information for this part of your request, as we consider
it to be exempt under Section 31(1)(a) which deals with information
prejudicial to law enforcement (Prevention and Detection of Crime).
This is a qualified exemption and we have therefore applied the Public
Interest Test. In making this decision we have weighed such factors as the
Council's desire to be open and transparent in all its dealings against
the prevention of crime.
In accordance with Section 17 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 ("the
Act") this e-mail acts as a Refusal Notice.
If you are unhappy with the way your request for information has been
handled, you can request a review of the Council’s response. If you wish
to exercise this right, please set out in writing your grounds and send
your appeal to Mrs Julie Llewellyn. She may be reached at
[1][email address] or at RCT CBC, Pavilions, Clydach Vale,
Tonypandy, CF40 2XX.
Additionally you may, if you wish, find out more about the Freedom of
Information Act & Environmental Information Regulations from the
Information Commissioner at [2]http://www.ico.org.uk/
We trust this answers your queries.
Yours Sincerely
