List of Children's Playparks

The request was successful.

Dear Aberdeen City Council,

I am emailing to request a list of council owned/maintained children's playparks within the local authority area. I would be grateful if this list could be supplied in a spreadsheet format, detailing the playpark name; address; and datazone in which the playpark is situated.

Furthermore, if you hold the information, I would also like an indication for each playpark as to whether it contains any accessible play equipment. Where possible, I would appreciate if this could indicate the type of accessible play equipment present e.g. accessible roundabout; high-back/adaptive swing; wheelchair swing; sensory play equipment.

Thank you for your help.

Yours faithfully,

Mr Alasdair Rutherford

Dear Mr Rutherford,

Thank you for your information request of 29 May 2019.  Aberdeen City
Council (ACC) has completed the necessary search for the information
requested. Our response is now detailed below.

A list of council owned/maintained children's playparks within the local
authority area. I would be grateful if this list could be supplied in a
spreadsheet format, detailing the playpark name; address; and data zone in
which the playpark is situated.

An indication for each playpark as to whether it contains any accessible
play equipment. Where possible, I would appreciate if this could indicate
the type of accessible play equipment present e.g. accessible roundabout;
high-back/adaptive swing; wheelchair swing; sensory play equipment.

Please see attached EIR-19-0748 – Playpark.

The name of each play area usually relates to its location and access
point so we do not have exact addresses and use the post codes to find
them. However you could search on the councils interactive map which shows
all City Council Maintained Play areas and can be searched by street name

As information on the address and data zone of the children’s playparks is
otherwise accessible via the link provided above, it is exempt from
disclosure.  In order to comply with its obligations under the terms of
Regulation 13 of the EIRs, ACC hereby gives notice that we are refusing
your request under the terms of Regulation 6(1)(b)  - Information Already
Publicly Available - of the EIRs.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE HANDLING OF YOUR REQUEST

As the information which you requested is environmental information, as
defined under Regulation 2(1) of the Environmental Information (Scotland)
Regulations 2004 (the EIRs), ACC considered that it was exempt from
release through FOISA, and must therefore give you notice that we are
refusing  your request under Section 39(2) of FOISA (Freedom of
Information (Scotland) Act 2002).  However, you have a separate right to
access the information which you have requested under Regulation 5 of the
EIRs, under which ACC has handled your request. Please refer to the
attached PDF for more information about your rights under the EIRs.

We hope this helps with your request.

Yours sincerely,
