List of C-roads in Kent
Dear Kent County Council,
I am aware you have Gazetteer Report on your website that details the list of streets in Kent. However, this is of little use when trying to compile a list of all C-roads in the county.
Therefore, is it possible to have:
A list of all classified roads under KCC's management in Kent - in a format that is properly searchable (e.g. Excel or csv).
Yours faithfully,
Dr Robert Baker

Dear Dr Baker
Thank you for your request for information made under the Freedom of
Information Act (FOIA) 2000, relating to List of C-roads in Kent. I am
pleased to provide the response below:
I am aware you have Gazetteer Report on your website that details the list
of streets in Kent. However, this is of little use when trying to compile
a list of all C-roads in the county.
Therefore, is it possible to have: A list of all classified roads under
KCC's management in Kent - in a format that is properly searchable (e.g.
Excel or csv).
Your request indicated that you had already located the
gazetteer-report.pdf from our website and you asked us for a file in
electronic format (e.g. Excel or csv).
The information held on the Highway Gazetteer by the County Council is
derived from street name information provided to the County Council by the
District and Borough Council’s across Kent. The information is provided to
us in the form of street name, Locality and Town that is added to the
Gazetteer by Kent Highways. We do not hold the lists of street names in
the xlxs or comma delimited format that you have requested, to provide
that information it would require us to carry out GIS work to combine the
information with Ordnance Survey’s Licensed Data and collate the
information into either of the specific formats you are looking for.
This information is part of the National Street Gazetteer (NSG) and use of
this data will need to be agreed to terms and conditions of supply for
registered users on the NSG data download section of the NSG website
managed by GeoPlace(TM) LLP; a copy of these terms and conditions can be
found at [1]www.thensg.org.uk.
One of the main conditions of supply of NSG data is that the user must
also be appropriately licensed for the use of certain underlying Ordnance
Survey data before GeoPlace is able to allow access to the NSG data.
If access to NSG data is required solely for academic research, then the
academic institution should approach Ordnance Survey to discuss the
details of the project for which the NSG data is required. If appropriate,
NSG data may be made available under a separate research data licence.
