Dear Information Commissioner’s Office,
Thank you for this very useful information.
There are a couple of queries please.
1) The FOI LTTs were, as I understand it, part of the original FOI Knowledgebase which the ICO committed to publish. These have been gradually retired as they have been incorporated into public guidance on the ICO's website. Hence their dwindling number.
However there are a large number of new ones in the Advice Service LTTs. I wonder if you could explain to me how this works? Is the policy of reducing FOI LTTs due to publication in public guidance actually just being morphed into new LTTs being published as part of the Advice Service LTTs instead?
2) I think the Advice Service LTTs are renamed? You previous referred to "Data Protection (DP) Lines To Take (LTTs)" - these have been renamed to Advice Service LTTs?
There are FOI LTTs containing just FOI related things; and CWANs which are just FOI; then Advice Service LTTs that are across all information regimes I think. Am I correct?
Could you explain the role of the three different categories please?
3) Last year you told me that the DP LTT on Domestic CCTV was under active review. http://www.kingqueen.org.uk/dppltt/domes... You've provided a new DP LTT on Domestic CCTV and Section 36, http://www.kingqueen.org.uk/dppltt/domes... . Is the old one retired and replaced by the new one?
I'm still ploughing through some. I appreciate the very large volume of information you have assembled for me - thank you!
Doug

Dear Mr Paulley
Thank you for your email.
To explain, our Policy Delivery Department is responsible for producing
FOI LTTs and CWANs.
Our Customer Contact department produces the rest of the LTTs. These are
produced in response to issues that frequently crop up either on our
helpline or in written enquiries. In response to your previous request,
these were labelled DPA LTTs but, as you can see, while the majority of
these concern the DPA they do also include references to the FOIA, EIR and
PECR. I therefore thought it would be misleading to describe them as DPA
LTTs and they are contained in the Advice Services knowledge base on our
intranet.
The current LTT on Section 36 that I have provided replaces any similar
internal guidance we had in place.
I hope this answers your questions but let me know if you have any further
queries.
Yours sincerely

The "policy based" Lines To Take and Casework Advice Notes were / aure used for other purposes than "just" the advice workers, then? Do they still perform a wider function?

Dear Mr Paulley
Thank you for your email. I apologise for the delay in my response.
The FOI LTTs and CWANs are generally used by our FOI case officers when
preparing decision notices. The advice services LTTs are used more widely
by case officers responding to enquiries in both our advice services and
Performance Improvement departments. However, all of them are accessible
on our intranet for anyone looking for information.
I hope this is helpful.
