Lincoln Prisoners Transportation

The request was successful.

Dear Ministry of Justice,

Under the Freedom of Information Act I would like to request the information on the transport of prisoners at Lincoln Prison (Category B) to the Lincoln County Hospital, both on Greetwell Road.

I understand that the total amount spent on 940 taxi journey's to the hospital since 2006 is £5,467.

Therefore, I would like to request:

A) What risk assessment was made to justify a taxi's use to a facility less than 200 yards away.

B) Why has no other transport solution been made if this has been happening since 2006.

C) Is anything in progress to solve this expensive problem. If so, what is it?

Yours faithfully,
Miss L. Wright.

Moseley, Rob [NOMS],

Dear Moseley, Rob [NOMS],

In your answer to my last question you said that the cost of providing a separate vehicle and driver solely for hospital escorts far outweighs the cost of the current arrangements. What exactly are the current arrangements? And what are the exact figures of each option?

Yours sincerely,

Laura.

Dear Miss Wright

Thank you for you email. Your request for further information is being
treated as a fresh application for information under the Freedom Of
Information Act and you will receive a response in due course.

Yours sincerely

Dear Ms Wright,

SUBJECT: Freedom of Information Request

Thank you for your correspondence of October 18, 2010, in which you
asked for information relating to prisoner escorts under the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 (FOIA) from the Ministry of Justice (MoJ).

You will receive a response from us by November 12, 2010. Your request
has been passed to the appropriate business unit within the MoJ, and
they will write to you with their decision by this date.

The FOIA does provide a number of exemptions. A qualified exemption
requires that before relying on it we must consider the public interest
test. If the information you have requested is covered by a qualified
exemption(s) under FOIA, the Department is allowed to take longer than
20 working days to respond. This is because in such circumstances we are
required to consider the public interest issues when deciding whether or
not to disclose the information requested.

If more time is needed to consider the public interest issues under a
qualified exemption(s), we will write to you and inform you of the
revised date you can expect to receive a response to your request.

If you have any queries regarding this request please do not hesitate to
contact us. Please quote ref: FOI/67619/10 in all future correspondence.

Yours sincerely,

Kate Balding
