Thank you for your Freedom of Information request, which was received by Glasgow School of Art on 2 March 2022.
The response below was received from GSA's Director of Estates:
1. What type of lighting specifically (incandescent, fluorescent, halogen, LED or mixture) does the University use in the following areas?
a. Residential Estate
A mixture of different types, but when replacing lighting on a phased or planned basis, we replace existing type where possible, with LED.
b. Offices

A mixture of different types, but when replacing lighting on a phased or planned basis, we replace existing type where possible, with LED.
2. For each building, are solar photovoltaic (PV) panels installed?
No but this is being considered as part of our Estates Strategy.
3. For each building, what Building Management System (BMS) is in use?
. For the Mackintosh, Reid, Bourdon and Assembly buildings we use the Desigo Insight BMS system.
. For the Stow building we use the Trend BMS system.
4. Is there a hard services external Facilities Management company under Contract with the College and who is it?
ECG are the Term Contractor for GSA`s Planned Preventative Maintenance contract. Hard services/facilities management are encompassed within this contract.
5. Please provide a copy of the University's Net-Zero/Sustainability/Carbon Management Plan.
The GSA is currently committed to the undertaking of an Estates Strategy, using a range of consultant`s expertise, which will allow GSA to commit to a Net Zero / Sustainability / Carbon Management Plan. This is planned to be available by July 2022 after approval by our Board of Governors.
6. Name, position, email address and contact number of the member of staff responsible for reducing the carbon emissions within the University as part of the overall Government strategy to reach Net-Zero?
There is no single person responsible for reducing the carbon emissions within GSA. As mentioned in question 5 above, the ongoing Estates Strategy and Sustainability Framework will identify the timescales and the actions necessary to reach Net Zero. Thereafter, various staff members will be delegated tasks and responsibilities to enable GSA to reach their Net-Zero goals. This will then be monitored by our Board of Governors.
This concludes our response to your Freedom of Information request.
