Licenced Betting Offices in Norwich 2007-13

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Norwich City Council should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Richard Richardson

Dear Norwich City Council,

Please could you release to me information on how many Licensed Betting Offices were licensed in Norwich in each year from 2007 to 2013.

For clarity: I wish to understand the total number of bookmakers licenced in each year 2007-13 and how that has changed over time. Some councils make their current register available online, unfortunately this gives just the current number not the historic trend.

Yours faithfully,

Richard Richardson

Dear Norwich City Council - FOI Enquiries,

many thanks for the information provided which if complete gives us a pattern of:

2008 = 19
2009 = 20
2010 = 21
2011 = 24
2012 = 26
2013 = 28
2014 = 29

now this may be correct but I a concerned that there are no entries for premises that have closed and their licence lapsed, been surrendered

The data provided is consistent with a data extract using current betting licences but with a varied range for the issue date. If this is what was done then any offices that closed are not included in the figures, reducing the number in earlier years and giving a potentially false impression of the trend.

Please can you check that no betting licences have been surrendered, have lapsed or have been revoked. if so then these figures are complete but it would be unusual to have had no licences surrendered over the period 2007 to today.

If licences have been surrendered, lapsed or revoked then please can you supply details of when they were issued and when they ended?

Thank you for your help with this matter and sorry that I have had to seek this clarification after your rapid response.

Yours sincerely,

Richard Richardson
