Dear Cardiff University,

I am writing to ask about library fines during the academic year 2016/2017. For the time period starting from the first day of term, covering the next 364 days (e.g. one full year), please provide:

1. The total amount of money the library received from the payment of overdue items. Exclude costs of replacing lost books if possible – this request solely relates to the cost of items that are returned later than their due date.

Many thanks, and do let me know if you require any further clarification

Yours faithfully,

Jack Forks

Dear Jack

I am writing in response to your Freedom of Information request dated 26
September 2017 in which you requested information regarding library fines.

For ease of reference, I have reproduced your question below and set out
our corresponding response:

1. The total amount of money the library received from the payment of
overdue items for the academic year 2016-17. Exclude costs of replacing
lost books if possible – this request solely relates to the cost of items
that are returned later than their due date.

£20,106.98 - please note from the 2016-17 academic year there has been a
change in policy and students are now only charged fines where the books
have been reserved by another reader.
