LGO investigations.
Dear Sir or Madam,
During the last five years how many times has the Local Government Ombudsman (as a result of investigating a complaint against Croydon Borough Council) brought to the attention of the council the fact that a member of Croydon Borough Council staff had misled them, lied to them or done anything else to hinder their investigation. If they have what disciplinary action was taken against the individual(s) concerned by the council.
Yours faithfully,
Trevor R Nunn

Dear Mr Nunn
Thank you for your email dated 9 January 2009 in which you have requested
amongst other things "how many times has the Local Government Ombudsman
(as a result of investigating a complaint against Croydon Council) brought
to the attention of the Council the fact that a member of Croydon staff
has misled them". We have considered your request under the terms of the
Freedom of Information Act 2000.
The Council has conducted a search into its records and confirms it does
not hold the information you have requested as there have been no
occasions where Council officers have lied or deliberately misled the
Ombudsman in respect of responding to their enquiries. Thus there has
been no disciplinary action taken against officers regarding this.
If you are unhappy with the way the department has handled your request
under the Freedom of Information Act, you may ask for an internal review.
You can do this by outlining the details of your complaint and either
o e-mailing us at [Croydon Borough Council request email]
o faxing us on 0208 760 5679
o writing to FOI Complaints, London Borough of Croydon, Democratic and
Legal Services, Croydon, CR9 3JS
If you are not content with the outcome of the internal review, you have
the right to apply directly to the Information Commissioner for a
decision. The Information Commissioner can be contacted at:
o Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane,
Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF
