Dear Fife Council,

(1) Please could you indicate the number of homophobic incidents targeted at pupils, reported in each of your schools (listed individually by name and number) that were reported in the 2016 - 2017 academic year?

(2) Please could you indicate the number of homophobic incidents targeted at staff, reported in each of your schools (listed individually by name and number) that were reported in the 2016 - 2017 academic year?

(3) Please indicate which of your schools have received staff training on dealing with LGBT issues and from whom (e.g. from a specific external organisation or the council).

(4) Please list which schools have either achieved Bronze, Silver or Gold, or are registered with LGBT Youth Scotland's School Charter Mark.

(5) For clarity and to put the above into perspective, please indicate the total number of schools in your council.

I refer to your email dated and received on 14/06/2017, our reference;
FCIR:17646. 

 

I have detailed below the information you requested and trust that it
meets your requirements.

 

(1) Please could you indicate the number of homophobic incidents targeted
at pupils, reported in each of your schools (listed individually by name
and number) that were reported in the 2016 - 2017 academic year?

This information is subject to an exemption under Section 36(1) of the
Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 - claim to confidentiality -
the Council is unable to provide an exact figure and name of school/s. 
Information provided in response, to a Freedom of Information Request, is
considered to be in the public domain and, as such, disclosure of these
details may mean that person/s could be identifiable.  I can advise that
there were less than 5 incidents in the period specified.

(2) Please could you indicate the number of homophobic incidents targeted
at staff, reported in each of your schools (listed individually by name
and number) that were reported in the 2016 - 2017 academic year?

 

This information is subject to an exemption under Section 17 of the
Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 – Information not held.  Fife
Council do not hold records of the information requested.

(3) Please indicate which of your schools have received staff training on
dealing with LGBT issues and from whom (e.g. from a specific external
organisation or the council).

 

This is incorporated into the Child Protection and Anti-Bullying training
which Fife Council provides to all school employees.

(4) Please list which schools have either achieved Bronze, Silver or Gold,
or are registered with LGBT Youth Scotland's School Charter Mark.

(5) For clarity and to put the above into perspective, please indicate the
total number of schools in your council.

There are a total of 173 schools.
