LGA Press Release
Dear Cambridge City Council,
Cambridge City Council was recently mentioned in a list of strange requests issued by the LGA in an attempt to discredit the FOI process. The Cambridge City Council request was about frozen animals. I would like to request the following information about the Council's involvement.
Did officers working for the council search for any information, given the unlikely nature of the proposition in the FOI request?
Did Cambridge City Council approach the LGA about the frozen animal FOI request or was the Council approached by the LGA? If the LGA used the Cambridge request without consulting the council, please confirm this.
I would like to request copies of correspondence between the Council and the LGA about the frozen animal request and how it would be used.
I would like to request copies of any correspondence received by Cambridge City Council from the LGA on the subject of FOI generally in the last 12 months. Please limit any search to Chief Executive’s team, the Public Relations Team, and those staff dealing with FOI requests.
Yours faithfully,
Tony Parker

The request is question was received by Cambridge City Council on 25
January 2014, and was logged under reference number 3021. The request
asked what the council’s policy was on dealing with dead pets found by its
employees. Supplementary questions were asked if the council’s policy was
to freeze pets. The council responded to the first part of the request,
outlining the procedure followed when dead domestic animals were found.
This procedure does not include the freezing of animals, so this part of
the request was not responded to. The request and the council’s response
was published on our disclosure log and can be viewed at
