Dear [Name Removed],

Thank you for your request, dated 27 July 2017 requesting information
about the forthcoming London Fire Brigade (LFB) replacement of its
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) project. I have set out my response
below:

1. When this new PPE will be rolled out to firefighters

Our current PPE will be replaced by October 2018 when all operational
staff will be wearing gold coloured tunics and leggings with new boots,
gloves, hoods and helmets. Bristol Uniforms, who supply our current PPE,
have been selected as the new supplier and a 'framework agreement' was
signed in June with Kent. LFEPA members agreed at Resources Committee on
Friday, 21 July that we can sign our own agreement with Bristol Uniforms;
work is now underway to get this in place as soon as possible to ensure we
are ready for go live next year. A meeting is being held with Bristol
Uniforms on the 24th September 2017 when discussion will start on the
exact timetabling details for the rollout.

2. When all firefighters will be equipped with the new PPE

LFEPA members authorised the Head of Procurement and Technical Service
Support to enter into a Call-Off Contract, under the Framework Agreement
between Kent Fire and Bristol Uniforms, for the provision of Firefighter
PPE and Urban Search and Rescue PPE. This contract stipulates that all
Firefighters will be in receipt of the new PPE by October 2018.

3. Make/model of all new PPE

Details of the make/model of the new PPE can be found within Part 1 of the
attached Authority report FEP 2761 - Agreement to enter a Call off
Contract for the supply of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) dated 21
July 2017.

4. Whether the rank markings on helmets will remain the same with the new
ones.

No decisions have yet been made whether rank markings will remain the same
or change.

I hope you find the information provided useful. If you have any further
questions please let me know.
