Dear Matthew Davis
Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004 - Information not held
Subject: LEZ or CAZ charges
Thank you for your request for information of 26/07/2022 which has been processed in line with the terms of the Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004 (EIRs). You asked the following:
In each of the last three financial years (18/19) (19/20) and (20/21) or from their introduction, please state how much money has been accrued from motorists from any LEZ or CAZ that you administer?
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide you with the information requested as it is not held by the Council. The Council is therefore relying on the exception under regulation 10(4)(a) of the EIRs.
Edinburgh’s LEZ was introduced on 31 May 2022, however we are currently observing a 2 year ‘grace period’ to allow motorists to prepare. LEZ will become fully operational and enforced from June 2024, when the Council will begin issuing fines for non-compliance vehicles in the zone. So we have not issued any fines as yet for Edinburgh’s LEZ, this will only be possible from June 2024.
We do not have CAZ in Edinburgh.
Please note that this letter constitutes a formal notice under regulation 13 of the EIRs.
To promote transparency and accountability, it is the Council’s policy to publish all request details and responses made under the freedom of information legislation. This information is available at the following link: https://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/homepage/10....
