Freedom of Information Request - Swansea
Thank you for your request for information dated 5th November 2018 and received on the
same day. Your request asked:
1. How many solicitors does the Council employ?
2. How many legal advisors does the council employ (a role which requires
giving or advising on the law)?
3. How many solicitor jobs have been advertised internally and externally in the
past 2 years?
4. How many legal jobs have been advertised internally and externally in the past
two years?
5.
Also how were the roles advertised? 6. Can these figures be broken down to departments?
Your request has been dealt with under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA). The
information you have requested is as follows:
1. Based on numbers employed as of today’s date the number of solicitors employed
totals 22.
2. Based on numbers employed as of today’s date the number of legal advisors
employed (including than number above) totals 41.
3. We advertise posts as lawyer posts and have advertised 7 lawyer posts in the past 2
years, some permanent and some temporary.
4. Other than the lawyer posts above 2 Legal Executive posts and 3 Paralegal posts
have been advertised.
5. All posts are advertised on the Council’s Website. 4 of the Lawyer posts were also
advertised in the Law Society Gazette.
6. All legal staff employed are based in Legal, Democratic Services & Business
Intelligence.
