I am writing in response to your Freedom of Information request dated 15
August 2023

For ease of reference, I have reproduced your questions below and set out
our corresponding responses.

How much money have you spent on legal fees from July 2022-August 2023 on
legal fees?

The total spend for every Legal request was £929,767.84 during this
period.

How many emails has the Vice Chancellor received from students wanting to
end the marking boycott?

58 - This figure includes e-mails received during the period of the
marking boycott that either specifically mentioned wanting to end the
marking boycott, or more generally, wanting to end the industrial action.

How many students were unable to graduate in 2023 because of strike
action?

We currently have 230 final year students that we have not been able to
provide with a classified or unclassified degree award

Please publish any documentation from April 2023-August 2023 featuring
"strike", "pay", and "equality" from the university?

The time involved in searching for and providing the information you have
requested would exceed the time limit (18 hours) allowed under the Freedom
of Information and Data Protection (Appropriate Limit and Fees)

The staff figures of the University for this  year have not yet been
finalised and as such we are unable to respond to these aspects of the
request at this stage.

How many students have requested a refund of fees from Cardiff University
over the strike?

We do not hold this information in a reportable format, we would need to
manually review the individual cases. The time involved in searching for
and providing the information you have requested would exceed the time
limit (18 hours) allowed under the Freedom of Information and Data
Protection (Appropriate Limit and Fees) Regulations 2004.  Accordingly,
