Legal costs of specific First-tier Tribunal, Upper Tribunal and county court cases

The request was partially successful.

Dear Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service,

MFRS use software called Civica Legal to record the time (and cost) of its own staff spent when MFRS and/or MFRA are a party in UK judicial proceedings in case a later costs application is made.

Please could you state the total cost recorded by MFRS on its Civica Legal software (or equivalent) in connection with the following judicial cases over the following specified time periods (including £NIL if applicable):-

i) First-tier Tribunal (GRC) case EA/2016/0054 (1.1.2016 to 30.3.2016)
ii) First-tier Tribunal (GRC) case EA/2016/0054 (1.4.2016 to 30.3.2017)
iii) First-tier Tribunal (GRC) case EA/2016/0054 (1.4.2017 to 30.3.2018)
iv) First-tier Tribunal (GRC) case EA/2016/0054 (1.4.2018 to 30.3.2019)
v) First-tier Tribunal (GRC) case EA/2016/0054 (1.4.2019 to 30.3.2020)
vi) First-tier Tribunal (GRC) case EA/2016/0054 (1.4.2020 to 23.6.2020)
vii) Upper Tribunal (AAC) GIA/2503/2017 (1.1.2017 to 30.3.2017)
viii) Upper Tribunal (AAC) GIA/2503/2017 (1.4.2017 to 30.3.2018)
ix) Upper Tribunal (AAC) GIA/619/2019 (1.1.2019 to 30.3.2019)
x) Upper Tribunal (AAC) GIA/619/2019 (1.4.2019 to 30.3.2020)
xi) Birkenhead County Court G01BI932 (1.4.2020 to 23.6.2020)

Please note that time periods include start and end dates.

Please could you provide the figures in the currency Great Britain Pounds (GBP) and pence electronically.

Please note the above it for totals only, not a detailed breakdown of costs preferably supplied as a spreadsheet file (.xls or .xlsx format).

If totals are unavailable/not recorded and would result in information being created, then the individual time reports (a total of 11) as .rtf files are acceptable instead covering the same cases/time periods in (i) to (xi) above. If time reports are provided then I am happy with the names of junior staff and third parties being redacted as personal information (section 40), unless the name is of current/former senior managers at MFRS which would normally be disclosed in response to a FOI request.

I remind you of your duty to provide advice and assistance to those making requests and look forward to reading your response.

Yours faithfully,

John Brace

Dear Sutton, Jackie,

Thank you for your response to the internal review for FOI/81/2020, which was rather confusingly (from the requester's perspective) given in response to request FOI/83/2020 and further stated in the covering email that it was an internal review of FOI/91/2020, which the requester presumes was a typographical error and was supposed to read FOI/81/2020?
