Response

Questions 1 and 3 - I can confirm that there have been no legal
disputes/court cases between the Student Loans Company Limited (“SLC”) and
other central government departments, non-departmental government bodies
or regional mayoral departments over the last 10 financial years and
financial year 2018-19 to date (the “Review Period”).

Question 2 – I can confirm that there has been 1 court case between the
SLC and a UK local council (Newcastle City Council (“NCC”)) in the Review
Period.  The claim related to payments of Disabled Students’ Allowance
through Student Finance England and was discontinued by NCC by way of a
Notice of Discontinuance.  SLC does not hold any the more specific
information that you have requested, including the time period from
bringing of proceedings until conclusion or total cost as the file is no
longer held – the file was securely destroyed in 2017 in line with the
retention schedule SLC operates for legal files.
