Legal advice on the BBC statement that Second licences are required for Second Homes
Dear British Broadcasting Corporation,
On your website in the section headed "Do I need a TV Licence" (Second Homes) you state in advice to customers owning second homes that they......
" can't move your licence to cover your second home while you're there and then move it back again"
You also state that for Houses flats bungalows or cottages a 'separate' TV licence' is required.
For static caravans, mobile homes or moveable chalets this does not apply and you provide a declaration form for customers to complete confirming that they do not use receiving equipment in two places simultaneously.
This is illogical and unfair.
As a pensioner in my seventies who will not now receive the benefit of a free TV licence post 75 and who owns a second home I will continue to be obliged to pay two TV licences despite not using receiving equipment simultaneously in two separate homes.
I would like the BBC to disclose to me the legal advice you have obtained that supports the advice in your website on this subject and which is noted above.
Kind Regards
Yours faithfully,
Jon Massey
