Dear Dr. Ines Lee,
Re: Freedom of Information Request MWDV1WM7M
Thank you for your correspondence with Leeds City Council on 27^th
September 2023. Your request asked the following:
Regarding each secondary school in your borough:
- School Name
- Local Authority Establishment Number (LAESTAB)
- Unique Reference Number (URN)
- The number of children admitted under a distance criterion for
year 7 entry
- The distance of the furthest child admitted under a distance
criterion for Year 7 entry
Note: I would like this information for the school years 2013/14 through
to 2014/15.
Please see the attached document, MWDV1WM7M FOI Data, which shows the
schools that were available in the admissions rounds requested, this data
includes the LAEESTAB and the URN of each school. Please note that the
names and LAEESTAB numbers are based on the current details of each
school, not the name or LAEESTAB number of the school at the time.
For the 2013-14 admissions round, Leeds City Council are unable to provide
the number of children admitted solely under a distance criteria as the
data captured for these admission rounds only breaks down the number of
siblings allocated as a sub total of all allocations. The data held by the
council does not include the number of children admitted solely on a
distance criteria, other priorities such as Child Looked After and EHCP
Priorities are also not given as separate entries in the data recorded.
For the 2014-15 admissions round and each subsequent academic year after,
please see the data on numbers of children admitted under each priority,
which is already published at [1]Secondary school allocations | Data Mill
North. This information is exempt from release in this response as it is
available to you by other means under Section 21 of the Freedom of
Information Act 2000. However, for guidance, the data at the published
location also shows the numbers admitted on distance and the cut off
distances as requested except for schools ranking their own applications
at that point in time. This information is not held by the council.
Therefore, Leeds City Council does not have cut off distances for either
of the academic years requested for the following schools:-
- All Catholic Schools,
- Abbey Grange CE School,
- Garforth Academy, and,
- Leeds West Academy.
If you are dissatisfied with this response, you have a right to appeal to
an independent officer within the council. They will re-examine your
request and assess whether we have adhered to the requirements of the act.
Should you wish to follow this course of action please address your
concerns in writing to the above address.
You also have a right under Section 50 of the Freedom of Information Act
to ask the Information Commissioner to decide whether we have met with our
obligations under the act. The Commissioner has however made it clear
that they expect all applicants to exhaust internal appeals procedures
prior to making such an application. Should you wish to contact the
Commissioner’s office then you can contact the Commissioner via their
website at [2]www.ico.org.uk
