Leaver salary overpayment and income tax corrections
Dear Department for Work and Pensions,
I would like to request data on;
* How many Civil servants in 2016/17, 2017/18, 2018/19 and 2019/20 were over paid after leaving the department?
* How many were recovered through invoices?
* What proportion of these payments have had their earnings corrected through PAYE or an EYU?
* The average time it has taken for the department, following a repayment by former employees, to adjust their tax position.
Does the department have any response regarding why EYUs or corrections have not been made to former employees tax records as required after receiving repayment of over paid salary?
And why the department believes that leaving former employees out of pocket through a lack of tax refunds caused by a failure to perform adjustments is acceptable?
Yours faithfully,
Chris Roberts
