Dear Department for Education,

I requested a list of all the LEA's (local Education Authority's) across the UK contact information several weeks ago and have still not had my request fulfilled as required by law. Can you please get me this information including the head of departments and their personal assistants email addresses and phone numbers in the next two working days?

I am also requesting an internal review as to why my request was not carried out within the legal time frame.

Can you carry out both tasks for me?

Thanks

Yours faithfully,

James Shure

Department for Education

Dear Mr Shure

Thank you for your request for information, which was received on 3
December. You requested a list of all the LEA's (local Education
Authority's) across the UK contact information.  I have dealt with your
request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

I would like to offer my apologies for the delay in responding. The
Department takes very seriously its obligations under the Act, including
the requirement to respond within the statutory deadline of 20 working
days. I am afraid that we have not been able to maintain this standard in
this instance due to administrative errors, this delay is not acceptable
and I am very sorry for the inconvenience which it may cause you.

Following a search of the Department’s paper and electronic records, I
have established that

The Department does not have, as requested, the following information:

·         Local authority name;

·         Head of department/personal assistant name;

·         Direct email addresses;

·         Telephone numbers.

However, the [1]website for the Association of Directors of Children’s
Services (ADCS) will have a list of all local authorities in England along
with the names, email addresses and telephone  numbers of all directors of
children’s services (DCS).

The number of schools of each type, and the number of pupils, in each
local authority can be found in the local authority tables of the
‘Schools, Pupils and their Characteristics: January 2015’ statistical
first release, which is available at the following link:

If you have any queries about this letter, please contact me. Please
remember to quote the reference number above in any future communications.

If you are unhappy with the way your request has been handled, you should
make a complaint to the Department by writing to me within two calendar
months of the date of this letter.  Your complaint will be considered by
an independent review panel, who were not involved in the original
consideration of your request.

If you are not content with the outcome of your complaint to the
Department, you may then contact the Information Commissioner’s Office

In light of receipt of this response, would you still like the Department
to undertake an internal review?

Yours sincerely

Rebecca Sandford
