My name is Connor Hand and I am writing from LBC Radio - the UK's biggest commercial station. I hope you're well.
I am writing with a request under the Freedom of Information Act. Specifically, I would like to ask the following:
- In the financial years 21/22, 22/23, 23/24 and 24/25, how many instances of a pupil coming into school with a knife or other sharp implement have been recorded at your school? (If you are a local authority/academy trust, please adjust this request for all schools in your jurisdiction.)
- In the financial years 21/22, 22/23, 23/24 and 24/25, how many pupils at your school have been suspended or expelled for the possession of a knife or other sharp implement at school? (If you are a local authority/academy trust, please adjust this request for all schools in your jurisdiction.)
- In the financial years 21/22, 22/23, 23/24 and 24/25, how many instances have there been of a pupil or member of staff being injured as a result of a wound inflicted by a knife/sharp implement? (If you are a local authority/academy trust, please adjust this request for all schools in your jurisdiction.)

Thank you for your request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA), which was received in our office on 19 February 2025.
The Trust has a query with regard to the time period you are referring to as a financial year in your request. The financial year for the Trust and all schools for which it is responsible for runs as per the academic year, from 01 September - 31 August. Can you please confirm by return that it will it be acceptable to provide the information to you in this format, any such incidents about which you are requesting information, would be recorded by a school by academic year.
The Trust has a statutory duty to provide you with the information you have requested within 20 working days of your request, we will aim to provide with you a response within that timeframe. Please note that the clock is paused whilst we await clarification from you as requested above.
