Thank you for your email dated 20 January 2022 requesting information from

Response
Information regarding exam results, predicted or final, is held
individually for each applicant within the University’s systems. The
University’s admission team does not have the software or the expertise to
collate exam performance into the requested groupings listed in your
request. Each qualification for an applicant is presented as a single
entry, therefore, to determine the A-level grades attained it would be
necessary to conduct a manual search of each line for each applicant to
ascertain each grade, which the University estimates would exceed the cost
limit. This is also excludes the time taken to export the raw data, plus
additional work such as checking for possible identifying combinations,
exclusion of those not studying A Levels or not a Home applicant etc.
Section 12(1) of the Freedom of Information Act states that a public
authority is not obliged to comply with a request for information if the
authority estimates that the cost of complying with the request would
exceed the appropriate limit. This is currently £450, which equates to 18
hours of staff time calculated at £25 an hour as set out in the Freedom of
Information and Data Protection (Appropriate Limit and Fees) Regulations
2004.
The University is obliged to offer guidance as to what would be manageable
under the costs limit so with that in mind the University can offer you
information about the general thresholds for receiving an offer, please
see below.
For the 2021 cycle, 100% of applicants received an offer if they had
predicted A-Levels in the range of A*A*A* - A*AA and had achieved 7 A*s at
GCSE.
For applicants falling below this or predicted AAA – ABB, the application
would be scored based on several factors including: GCSE profile, A Level
predicted/achieved grades profile, personal statement, mitigating factors,
contextual factors.
Application decisions were then made based on the overall score the
application receives, after enough applications had been reviewed to
determine the overall quality of the applications received. It was
possible for applicants with the same score to have different A Level
profiles due to the nature of the scoring.
Selection was similar for the 2020 cycle with a slight change to the GCSE
offer criteria with 100% of applicants received an offer is they were
predicted A*A*A* - A*AA + 7 A*s and 1 B or higher at GCSE.
Please note that due to the level of competition, the selection process
for the 2022 cycle has changed.
