InfoRequest, Cardiff University

Dear George

Could you please clarify questions 3-12 of your request, i.e.  what you
are asking for when you stipulate “achieved AAA, AAB” etc. Is this
specifically only for A levels, or does it include all tariffable
qualifications? Is this total average tariff per applicant converted to
lettered grades?

Once we have received clarification we will be able to progress your
request.
Kind regards
Beth

Dear InfoRequest,

The 'AAA', 'AAB', etc., refers to just A-levels. Please do not convert any other qualifications into A-level equivalents using the UCAS tariff.

Yours sincerely,

George Mounokoliavitz

InfoRequest, Cardiff University

Dear George

I am writing in response to your Freedom of Information request dated
18/07/19 in which you requested information regarding admissions data.

For ease of reference, I have reproduced your question below and set out
our corresponding response.

1. The total number of candidates who applied for one of these courses
through Clearing;

We do not hold the number of speculative applications/calls to clearing
centre so therefore cannot provide an accurate figure.

2. The number of candidates whose applications through Clearing were
accepted.

For the candidates whose applications were accepted through Clearing:

3. The number of candidates who achieved AAA or above at A-level; 4. The
number of candidates who achieved AAB; 5. The number of candidates who
achieved ABB; 6. The number of candidates who achieved BBB; 7. The number
of candidates who achieved BBC; 8. The number of candidates who achieved
BCC; 9. The number of candidates who achieved CCC; 10. The number of
candidates who achieved CCD; 11. The number of candidates who achieved
CDD; 12. The number of candidates who achieved DDD or below.

As regards questions 2 and 3, please see the chart below.

Please be aware that counts against grades are only those who achieved 3 A
levels and only represents the grades of those 3 A levels, not including
other qualifications they may have had. This does not include those who
carried out Cambridge U* and other qualifications which are tariff-able
but not requested and are equivalent to A levels. This data excludes
adjustment applicants.
