Sondh, Gurmale, Land Registration Rule Committee

Dear Karl,

Thank you for your email dated 3 January 2018 addressed to the Land Registration Rule Committee (LRRC).
The role of the LRRC is to advise the Lord Chancellor in making land registration rules and specifying service fees for land registration and information services as set out in sections 102 and 127 Land Registration Act 2002. The LRRC is independent of Land Registry and has no involvement in administering Land Registration matters. Details about the LRRC can be found by following the link below:
https://www.gov.uk/government/organisati...

You will appreciate that the LRRC is, therefore, unable to respond to your request for information. However, I have treated your request as being directed to HM Land Registry and have dealt with your enquiry below.
You specifically ask "what land is there available around Tewkesbury that's free to purchase".

Please note that the core business of HM Land Registry (HMLR) is to register ownership, interests, and mortgages and other secured loans against land and property in England and Wales and to record dealings with land once it is registered.

It is not entirely clear what you mean by the land being “free to purchase”. HMLR does not record information in relation to unregistered land. HMLR also does not record whether land that is registered in the register of title is free to, or available for purchase.

If you are interested in a specific property, then the following link might be useful to you:
https://www.gov.uk/get-information-about...

That link explains how you can get information about properties that are registered and how to undertake a search of the index map (which can help to establish whether land is registered at HM Land Registry and, if it is, what title number it is registered under).

If you have any queries about this letter, please contact me.

If you are dissatisfied with this response to your request, you may seek an internal review within two months of the date of our reply. Internal reviews will be dealt within 20 working days. If at the end of this time we are unable to respond, we will write to you explaining the reasons and giving you a new date. If you seek an internal review, please write to:
Louise Booth
Head of Corporate Legal Services (Core Services)
Head Office
Trafalgar House
1 Bedford Park

Email: [email address]

If you are not content with the outcome of the internal review, you have the right to apply directly to the Information Commissioner (ICO) within three months of the reply for a decision. Generally, the ICO cannot make a decision unless you have exhausted the complaints procedure provided by HM Land Registry. The Information Commissioner can be contacted at: The Information Commissioner’s Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF.

Yours sincerely,
