Dear Ministry of Defence,I recently saw an article concerning a plot of mod land for sale in the parkway/ernesettle Plymouth area how do I find out who is responcible for the sale.
I refer to your enquiry below. I anticipate selling a Tenanted farmhouse
as well as land at Coleridge. Which were you referring to and where was
Dear DIO PPD-Acq Disp8 (Lloyd, Martin B2),the article was featured in the Plymouth Herald dated Thursday June 6th concerning the sale of Turnchapel and agricultural land at Ernesettle/Parkway area there is a farm in that area which is Mod owned tenanted by Mr John Stevens from whom we rented land for our horses we where there for over 15 years in what is known as the fort field because it sides onto the old Ernesettle fort.
which brings me on to a similer subject if the farm and land is for sale should we be unable to purchase any is the afore said fort field and the adjacent field on the Ernesettle Crescent side(we have been told that the land could not be built on because of a catacomb of tunnels connected to the MOD Armaments Depot would these parcels of land be sold or would there be a possibility of gaining a long(10 years+)term lease for them from the MOD direct we had as said rented these fields from Mr Stevens for around 15years upto 18 months ago but had to leave because Mr.Stevens said the MOD had other use for them but as I can gather nothing has happened to them.
Thank you for this information. I was not aware of the Plymouth Herald
article and am not sure where they got their information. However it is
true that we are selling RM Turnchapel as well as some land at
Ernesettle. As you point out, the land at Ernesettle was proposed a
while ago but there was delay whilst the ammunition people reviewed
their explosive arc limits. My case officer is Ruth Allan who is
currently on leave returning on the 1st July and I have copied her in to
this email. At present we have not even appointed marketing agents.
Dear DIO PPD-Acq Disp8 (Lloyd, Martin B2),Many thanks for email would your case officer be able to tell us if some fields are unavailable for sale but could be rented long term i.e said fort field and adjaceant field also there are fields in Ernesettle Lane we are in need buy or rent of long term grazing.
Ruth Allan will provide a substantive reply on her return but in the
meantime, my instructions are that Ernesettle Farm together with some
land to the west and south has been declared surplus and will be sold.
Ruth will also be able to provide a plan.
Dear DIO PPD-Acq Disp8 (Lloyd, Martin B2),what are the contact details for Ruth Allan please.
I have copied Ruth in to this email so you have her email address. Her
direct dial is 01980-656097 and she returns from leave on the 1st July.
Further to our conversation this morning regarding Ernesettle Farm and land. Attached is a plan showing the area to be sold coloured pink. The farm and land will be sold at auction in October/early November at a local venue.
I have noted that you would like to lease or purchase land on the site for grazing. If leased, you would be looking at a long term tenancy - 10 yrs plus.
As I advised I will be visiting both the site and Mr Stevens on Monday 8 July and I will enquire about the possibility of any land on the site which could be available for leasing.
I will be in touch again once I have more information for you.
