Mitsuhiko Harada

Dear FOI,

I can confirm receipt of your response dated 16 April 2019. I would like to thank you for taking the time for compiling these informations.

However, to clarify my request, I was looking for the data to be on a single spreadsheet in order to show the weighting of GCSEs and A level grades alongside with TSA scores when considering the applicants. If this is not possible, it would be great if you are able to at least link the TSA scores, A level predicted grades and whether that particular applicant has received an offer.

Yours sincerely,

Mitsuhiko Harada

FOI, University of Cambridge

Dear Mitsuhiko Harada,

The reason that we presented the information as we did is because providing all of the information you requested in a single table would enable individuals to be identified in a way that would be a manifestly unfair use of the their personal data. Such a presentation of the information accordingly is exempt by virtue of section 40(3A)(a) of the Act because its release would breach the first data protection principle (the fair, lawful and transparent processing of personal data) as set out in the General Data Protection Regulation. This part of section 40 confers absolute exemption under the FOI Act. We apologise that this was not made clear in our initial response letter.

If you wish to request an internal review of this decision please let us know.

Dear University of Cambridge,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of University of Cambridge's handling of my FOI request 'Land Economy 2019 Admission Statistics'.

It is vital that informations are put on a single spreadsheet so that it would be possible to examine the weighting of predicted A Level grades and TSA scores in the consideration process. However, to solve the Univerity’s concerns, I’d like to propose the information to be presenting in the following specific groupings.

Catagory 1a (A*A*A*; TSA score 40-45)
Catagory 1b (A*A*A*; TSA score 45-50)
Catagory 1c (A*A*A*; TSA score 50-55)
Up till TSA score 95 or above
Catagory 2a (A*A*A; TSA score 40-45)
Catagory 2b (A*A*A; TSA score 45-50)
Catagory 2c (A*A*A; TSA score 50-55)
Up till TSA score 95 or above
Catagory 3a (A*AA; TSA score 40-45)
Catagory 3b (A*AA; TSA score 45-50)
Catagory 3c (A*AA; TSA score 50-55)
Up till TSA score 95 or above
Catagory 4a ( AAA; TSA score 40-45)
Catagory 4b (AAA; TSA score 45-50)
Catagory 4c (AAA; TSA score 50-55)
Up till TSA score 95 or above
Catagory 5a (Others; TSA score 40-45)
Catagory 5b (Others; TSA score 45-50)
Catagory 5c (Others; TSA score 50-55)
Up till TSA score 95 or above

Please also list the percentage of applicats recieving an offer who falls into each individual catagory.
