Dear Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council,
Hello, please can you tell me what the land which skirts, Broadway on one side and Old Lane on the other....known as Moston Brook, Failsworth is going to be used for. At a recent meeting it was proposed that the land will be regenerated but what exactly does that mean. The site was a land fill tip for many years so I wondered due to the methane underground whether houses could be built in it. Are the funds for this land forthcoming under Section 106 of the Town and planning act.

Yours faithfully,

kathleen wilkinson

Dear Ms Wilkinson

In response to your email and FOI request dated 1^st July I can confirm
the boundary of the Moston Brook project is as per the attached map.
Whilst Manchester City Council & Oldham Council own some of the land on
Moston Brook the area you are referring to is in private ownership.
Landcare POS are the site managers of all of the area shown as “Hardman
Fold Farm”, south of the dotted line (the waterway).  The area north of
the dotted line/brook from Broadway to Rishworth Drive is owned by
Manchester City Council.

The contact for POS Landcare is:

The site does have a methane stripping plant on it which is operated by

There was a call for housing sites put out by the Greater Manchester
Combined Authority to all the districts and I am aware that Landcare put
forward this and other sites across Greater Manchester in their ownership
however if the company have any firm development proposals they would be
obliged to submit a planning application to Oldham Council. They are not
working in partnership with the local authority to develop the site and
have not submitted an outline planning application.

The Moston Brook project has been working to improve the local authority
owned land for people and wildlife.  Please see our pages on Oldham
Council web site for details of our projects,

Kind regards
