Subject: Freedom of Information request - Land access

Dear Murray Edwards College,

This is a formal request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

Could you please provide the following:

1) A list of all Murray Edwards College sites and facilities which are
freely accessible to the general public (non-college members) without
cost, keycard or permission from porters, and, for each of these
facilities, the hours in which they are accessible.

The college is publicly accessible between 6am and 8pm. Visitors can take
a self-guided Art Tour or eat in the College’s café or dining hall.
However, such visitors are asked to visit the Porters’ Lodge on arrival.

2) A list of Murray Edwards College sites and facilities which are
accessible to the general public at a cost.

No areas of the college are routinely accessible at a cost (aside from
occasional ticketed events).

And answer the following questions:

3) Have the conditions of access for members of the public for the Murray
Edwards College sites, changed since 2019? If so, when did they change?

COVID restrictions were in place between March 2020 until the autumn of
2021. Access during this period was limited at times, based on legal
restrictions and government guidance.

4) Does the college run events to which the general public are invited? If
so, how are these events promoted?

The College promotes events that are open to the public via Eventbrite,
the University’s What’s On email newsletter, University departments and
Colleges, and posters around town.

If you are to invoke Section 43 to withhold information in relation to any
of these questions please note you must provide details of the exact FOIA
exemption, details of who would be prejudiced by this information, and a
public interest test justifying a conclusion with arguments for and
against the release of the information.

If you are to invoke Section 12 to withhold information in relation to any
of these questions please provide details of how locating, retrieving and
extracting this information would exceed the appropriate limit of £450 as
set out in the Freedom of Information and Data Protection (Appropriate
Limit and Fees) Regulations 2004. Please also be aware of your duty under
section 16 (1) of the Act to advise and assist me in narrowing my request
to bring it within the appropriate limit.

Thank you very much for your assistance with this request. If you would
like any clarification on the information I have asked for, please don’t
hesitate to get in touch. I look forward to receiving your response in the
next 20 working days.

Yours faithfully,
