Dear Ezra,
I note that the University has already pointed out the need for a full name in a Freedom of Information request via What Do They Know. Given that you have provided this information on the platform, to save you having to resubmit your request to Churchill College, I have taken this as the necessary clarification.
Please see below a response to each of your queries.
(1) The College operates an open site with permissive access to members of the public without cost or key card (etc) throughout the day. Some of the College’s facilities within the wider site are, however, necessarily restricted (key/card) access. These include some of the College’s sports and music facilities and the Chapel at Churchill, which is run by a separate Trust.
(2) The Chapel at Churchill, which is run by a separate Trust, is accessible to external users for a hire fee. External users may also book to use some College facilities through the College’s conferencing business: https://conferences.chu.cam.ac.uk/.
(3) There has been no change to the permissive access approach since 2019.
(4) The College runs a range public events and promotes them via the College’s social media channels and College website. Events open to the public are also run by the Churchill Archives Centre who promote them via their social media channels and website. Both the College and Archives use Eventbrite to manage bookings for events which require registration, for example online events.
If you are not satisfied with the way in which this request has been handled, please address your complaint to the Bursar, Churchill College. If the College is unable to resolve your complaint to your satisfaction, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner (https://ico.org.uk/).
All best wishes,
Lex
