Earl Howe and his entourage accompanied 53 Korean veterans, their carers and families to a commemoration in Korea.
Please advise:-

2. From which of the three services?
3. Were all surviving Korean veterans advised of the visit?
4. How many Korean veterans survive? As of this day.

Yours faithfully,
Rex Young

Dear Mr Young,

Acknowledgement of Request for a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)
Internal Review

We acknowledge receipt of your email of 22 August 2016 and can confirm
that an internal review will be conducted of both requests for
information, our references FOI2016/04600 and FOI2016/05493.

The Department's target for completing internal reviews is 20 working days
and we therefore aim to complete the review and respond to you by 20
September 2016. While we are working hard to achieve this, in the
interests of providing you with a realistic indication of when you should
expect a response, we should advise that the majority are currently taking
between 20 and 40 working days to complete.

The review will involve a full, independent reconsideration of the
handling of the case as well as the final decision.

Yours sincerely,

MOD Information Rights Compliance Team

Dear CIO-FOI-IR (MULTIUSER)

I rather think your 40 working days have expired.
Can this really be such a difficult subject area for the Might of MOD properly to respond to?

Yours sincerely,

CIO-FOI-IR (MULTIUSER), Ministry of Defence

Dear Mr Young,

We apologise for the length of time this review has taken.

On 22 August 2016, we advised you that the majority of our cases are taking between 20 to 40 working days to complete and some reviews depending on their complexity do take longer to complete. The 40-working day deadline for your response is 18 October 2016. We can assure you that you will receive a response either on or before that date.

Yours sincerely,

Dear CIO-FOI-IR (MULTIUSER),
Thank you for your Internal Review Korean veterans.
I note that the MOD has no interest in Earl Howe's visit to Korea as it wasn't funded by MOD and was, therefore, a privately funded visit.
Given that Members of the House of Lords are required to declare Gifts and Paid for Overseas visits I am surprised that Earl Howe has not listed any.
Please explain

Yours sincerely,

I doubt MoD will be able to answer your question. You need to direct it to the House of Lords who hold the members register of interests.

CIO-FOI-IR (MULTIUSER), Ministry of Defence

Dear Mr Young,

The internal review response advised you that Earl Howe’s visit, which
included attendance at remembrance ceremonies and a meeting with the
Korean Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs to discuss commemoration
issues, was arranged separately to those made by the Korean Veterans.

MOD publishes details of ministers’ meetings with external organisations,
gifts (given and received), hospitality and overseas travel on a quarterly
basis, and it may be useful to note that the Earl Howe’s travel to Korea
can be found via the following link:
