Freedom of Information requests, Coventry University

Dear Natalie,

REF: FOIA1425

Please find below responses in red to the Freedom of Information request
you made to Coventry University in respect of Knowledge Exchange
Framework.

 1. What is the expenditure on KEF Staff salaries?

£2,281,000.

2.       How many staff members' role is directly linked to KEF? Has this
number been increasing/decreasing?

78 people on board at present, it is increasing as we are actively
recruiting at present.

 3. What type of activities do you report to KEF?

In response to the Freedom of Information request you made to Coventry
University in respect of KEF, this information is accessible to you, as it
is already in the public domain. Please see
[1]https://re.ukri.org/knowledge-exchange/k....
Therefore the information is exempt from disclosure under section 21 of
the Freedom of Information Act 2000

 4. What is the 'impact' of KEF activities? How do you quantify their
'impact'?

Coventry University does not hold the information that you have requested,
as KEF is in very early stages of implementation. For more information on
KEF please see UKRI website at
[2]https://re.ukri.org/knowledge-exchange/k... .

 5. What is the annual expenditure on tracking/reporting Knowledge
Exchange activities?

Section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) provides an
exemption from a public authority’s obligation to comply with a request
for information where the cost of compliance is estimated to exceed the
appropriate limit. In relation to your request the relevant cost limit
under the FOIA is £450 which equates to 18 hours.  In order to provide the
information, we would need to establish if the information is held, locate
it, retrieve it, and extract it. This activity would take in excess of 18
hours, therefore the University is unable to provide you with the
information requested. The University has considered what information, if
any, we are able to provide you within the cost limits and we determined
that due to the nature of your request expenditure on tracking/reporting
KEF activities we are unable to provide you any information within the
cost limit.

 6. What is the annual expenditure on IT software relating to REF, TEF and
KEF?

Section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) provides an
exemption from a public authority’s obligation to comply with a request
for information where the cost of compliance is estimated to exceed the
appropriate limit. In relation to your request the relevant cost limit
under the FOIA is £450 which equates to 18 hours.  We do not classify IT
software in this way. In order for us to determine if any software has
been purchased specifically for REF,TEF and KEF, we would need to manually
review each software we use and determine if it solely supports REF,TEF
and KEF activities. This activity would take in excess of 18 hours,
therefore the University is unable to provide you with the information
requested. The University has considered what information, if any, we are
able to provide you within the cost limits and we determined that due to
the nature of your request (expenditure on tracking/reporting KEF
activities) we are unable to provide you any information within the cost
limit.

Yours sincerely,
