Following an investigation and search of our records I can confirm the
following Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust (KMPT)
information:-
Could you provide statistics as follows regarding Kent & Medway (herafter
called K&M) NHS referrals to St Andrews Healthcare, Wickford, Essex over
the last 5 years.

but not necessarily more often

St Andrews to review a referred patient's progress? This would vary on a
case by case basis; there is no standing arrangement with St Andrews.
8. How often do St Andrews update Kent & Medway NHS team re a referred
patient's progress / issues? E.g. is there a regular weekly / monthly
process This would vary on a case by case basis; there is no standing
arrangement with St Andrews.

Dear FOI,
Following your response to my request for information please could you clarify some points for me.
My previous question about the Average Cost (to NHS) per patient referred to St Andrews Healthcare, Wickford, Essex you gave me some idea as follows:
2014 - £ 532
2015 - £ 589
2016 - £ 592
What do these figures relate to ? is this a one off referral cost or the on-going cost to the NHS per day/week etc?
You then say 'for questions 2-5, all of the patients referred to St Andrew’s were discharged within 6 months'
I take this to mean that all patients referred by the K&M NHS to St Andrew's were discharged within 6 months and none of these patients stayed there longer than 6 months. In order to ensure I understand this data set then please could you confirm the following statements and answer the related questions.
a) In 2016 the total number of K&M NHS referrals to St Andrews was 48 and 37 were referred elsewhere under section. What happened to the other 11 were they considered well enough to return home ?
b) In 2016 the total number of >25 yr olds K&M NHS referrals to St Andrews was 41, 1 was discharged into the community with a CTO and 32 were referred elsewhere under section. What happened to the other 8 were they considered well enough to return home ?
c) Are there other possible sources of referrals to St Andrews apart from NHS ?

Good Morning,
Further to your request for clarification (attached), I can confirm the
following:
- Figures provided for bed rates are average cost to the Trust
per night
- Where figures for referral and discharge do not add up to the
same figure, the remainder of patients were discharged from St Andrews and
returned to their local area for treatment – they were not under section
but still under the care of a service within KMPT
- Referrals to St Andrews can come from any healthcare provider,
NHS or private.

I would like to know if there any patients who were referred to St Andrews by KMPT in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 or 2016 who have been there longer than 6 months - you appear to be saying no - they were all discharged within 6 months.
Which I take to mean that anyone referred before 28 September 2016 would have already been discharged by now.

You have just stated :

Please could you tell me then how can this possibly be true given my nephew was sent by Kent to St Andrews in April 2016 and remains there without even a plan for discharge in place ?
Please also advise if it is within statutory guidelines for someone to be a patient there for 11 months without a discharge plan in place ?
